Moving checklist – moving day

  
  Make sure that the moving truck that shows up is from the company you hired.
   
  Check every room, cupboard and shelf a final time before confirming that everything is loaded.
   
  Keep a family member or a friend informed of your plans in case of an emergency. 
   
  Before the movers leave, sign the inventory/bill of lading and keep a copy. 
   
  Leave a note with your new address in the house so that future residents can forward any mail. 
   
  Lock all the doors and windows, and turn off all switches.
